Another month has come and gone, bringing us to the three- quarter mark in this Masonic year. For some reason, time appears to be slipping through the Hourglass as rapidly as it did at the beginning of the year. The Lodge has been very busy this past month, initiating two Entered Apprentices and reinstating “Esoteric Mondays”. Despite the pull of the Rodeo, the remainder of March should mirror February in Lodge activity.
Last month I had the privilege of presiding over our Stated Meeting, during which Past Master Duncan Chapman donated his personal collection of Masonic books to our library. Brother Duncan is an incredibly generous person who has profoundly touched my personal life and enriched my journey in Masonry. I am sure that I am not alone in that regard, as he has always sought to make a difference. Likewise, we were blessed to have received a special presentation by Brother Charlie Duke on some of the history of Brother Anson Jones. For a moment Brother Duke took us back in time and gave us a glimpse of early Masonic and political life in Texas.
This month’s Stated Meeting promises to be very exciting as we welcome our guest speaker, David Dibrell, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Texas. Please plan on attending this Stated Meeting. You will not be disappointed. If life gets in the way, you still have three more chances to get to Stated Meeting this year. In April, we host guest speaker Tommy Griffin, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Texas; in May we will have Past Masters’ night, and of course we will conduct our annual elections in June.
Brethren, I look forward to seeing you at Lodge. In the meantime, if anyone knows how to slow down the inexorable tick of the clock, please let me know.
Fraternally, Ron Adams WM 2015-2016
