January has been a very eventful and fun time for Holland Lodge. We started the month by presenting a 50-year Masonic Service Award to Brothers Joe Crabb and Don Patterson, and a 65-year award to Brother Joe Melancon. It is both an honor and a humbling experience to be in the presence of so much Masonic experience and to stand next to a brother who has been a Mason longer than most of us have been alive.
The following Wednesday, we had the special honor of receiving our new District Deputy Grand Master, Allan Lazor, to Holland Lodge # 1. I must say that District # 30A is lucky to have him. In turn, DDGM Lazor assisted Holland Lodge the following Wednesday as we received our new Grand Master, Wendell P. Miller, to a packed house. Lest I begin to repeat myself, let me say that Texas Masonry is lucky to have him as our Grand Master. Thank you R.W. Lazor, for all your support!
After the Grand Master’s presentation, it was only fitting that Holland Lodge should conduct a Master Mason’s degree the following week on Brother Yassen Kantchev. We were equally pleased to experience Brother Kevin Clingan’s first Master Mason’s conferral at Holland Lodge. Well done Brother Clingan, and congratulations to you Brother Kantchev.
As we go to press, we have already conducted another Entered Apprentice degree on February 3rd. Life at Holland continues to get better and better. Although the activity will begin to slow in February as so many brothers volunteer in different capacities for the rodeo, we still have meaningful work to do. If you have not come to Lodge in a while, you owe it to yourself to attend a stated meeting, or come to a special event or to a degree. Our altar has not changed, and is in the same spot as you remember. We would love to see you soon.
Fraternally, Ron Adams
Worshipful Master 2015-2016 Holland Lodge # 1
