Holland Lodge

Bar B Que & Brisket Sale for Scholarships

On October 12, 2002 Holland Lodge held a fund raiser for local scholarship by cooking & eating some of the Best Briskets EVER. We sold briskets which several members put in some really hard hours. They enjoyed the cooking and delivered what many acclaimed as the best brisket they had ever tasted. Lunch was served and we had a tremendous response from our neighbors of fifty years. Invitations were sent to 3,000 of our neighbors inviting them to come for a tour of Holland Lodge, have lunch and purchase a brisket. Many of our neighbors did come and commented that this was the first time they had been in Holland Lodge or ever seen the front doors opened. We raised approximately $2,000 and plan to award scholarships for students at Houston Community College. Details will be coming regarding the scholarships and the recipients.

Take a look at the following pages and you will see the Masonic Fraternity in action. A good time was enjoyed by all who came. Our special thanks to the Shrine Clowns for coming and helping without our even knowing we needed help. Thanks!

Bill Sessums, Jr. and two of his kids came and enjoyed themselves. They have really grown.

Freemasonry teaches us to help others who do not know they need help. The two Shrine Clowns showed that spirit and understanding of Freemasonry. Their help was important when they directed traffic on Montrose to the Lodge and entertained the children, visitors and members with balloon tricks.

Bringing them in from Montrose for lunch and a tour.

Congratulations to these Masons of Holland who cooked the briskets. It looks so good you could just taste it. Terry Morton, Bill Woods, Duncan Chapman and Adrian.
